Holy Eclipse Batman!
Holy freaking moly!! Can you feel it? Do you sense the energy shifting? Can you feel change coming on? The intensity of the upcoming eclipse is mounting. I literally feel like I'm vibrating over here folks! No guff!
I’ve had many conversations and interactions with clients and friends who are feeling this intensity too. Even if they don't equate it with the eclipse, they know something's up. The tides are changing, shit's going down, and the collective energy is experiencing a major reboot.
I tried to make a video for you about this today, but things like; a thunder storm in February, a sick kid needing to be picked up from school, dogs howling down the street, and my phone battery dying, eventually made me come to terms with the fact that the whole video thing wasn’t meant to be today. But, I still wanted to talk to you about this, so I switched gears and here I am. Ironically, that's part of what this eclipse is about - if it's not working, quit trying to force it, stop clinging to it and move on!
The eclipse that's happening this Sunday, February 26th, is a new moon solar eclipse in the constellation of Pisces and it's a biggie! Astrologically, eclipses signify endings, beginnings, disruption and major insight. This is the last in a series of eclipses in Pisces that’ve taken place over the past 2 years...Think big culmination!
People will experience this eclipse and every eclipse, in different ways and to varying degrees. And FYI, this isn't a matter of, "Oh I don't believe in astrology or energy or any of that stuff, so it doesn't impact me." Um, sorry, but this stuff 'is', whether you believe in it or not. Just sayin.
How each of us experiences an eclipse, all depends on the level of consciousness of the individual and whether the planets involved in the eclipse are making any significant aspects to the person's particular birth chart. (Sidenote: Aspects are like conversations between planets - they can be intense, flowing, challenging, harmonious, etc).
In short, your soul is trying to get your attention right now, and it's of the utmost importance to listen!
The degree to which we choose to pay attention to our soul's calling, can make all the difference in terms of how we experience these energies. Will we cling desperately to the past, our fears and the status quo? Will we bury our heads in the sand and pretend that all is well and that there's 'nothin to see here'? Or, will we work with this energy and ride it towards a better, more conscious and meaningful future?
A new chapter is starting for all of us and each of us is responsible for how we choose to write it.
Here are a few tips for navigating this eclipse:
Dream big but keep your feet on the ground. This can be a time for realizing our dreams, for letting go of what’s not working and initiating new and improved plans. But, don’t let your imagination tip the scale to delusions of grandeur. Think big, but practical.
Don’t act impulsively or aggressively. Emotions can run high now and we can feel like we’re all hopped up on way too much caffeine. We may feel a serious urge to take on too much, be too over the top, too forceful. We can feel like a sprinter blasting out of the gate. We have to temper this energy and channel it in healthy ways. Physical exercise is a great way to do that. Don’t sit still, but don’t overdo it. Don't park your car, but don't drive like a maniac. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and pay mindful attention to where you’re going. Slow and steady wins the race.
Realize that it's time for serious healing. We may find that the past is being dredged up in a big way. This is not happening to torture you. It’s happening so you can deal with it once and for all. It’s happening so the skeletons can come out of the closet, the baggage can be dropped, the guilt, shame, anger, sadness, fear, pain and unhealthy patterning that we’ve been holding onto for perhaps lifetimes, can be lovingly acknowledged and finally bid adieu.
This is NOT a time for apathy and escapism. The dredging up of the past and the uncertainty of the future can cause some serious discomfort. The energy of Pisces (at its lower vibration) can have us walking around in a confused, lethargic fog. We can feel like it’s all too much and decide to hide ourselves away and medicate ourselves with overindulgence in booze, drugs, gaming, denial, martyrdom, smutty television, food, sleep, etc. It’s imperative to use the dreamy, compassionate, sensitive energy of Pisces in positive, self-loving ways. Creative, compassionate, spiritual, healing, life-affirming pursuits, rather than escaping off to la la land in a numbed-out haze.
Expect the unexpected. Eclipses in general, but this one in particular, may find us exclaiming, ‘WTF!?’ as sudden events can transpire that we never saw coming. This doesn’t necessarily mean the events will be negative, but they can definitely be surprising.
It’s time to do what Carl Jung called, 'individuate'. Meaning, it’s time to be our own unique selves. We’re being called to make our own decisions instead of always deferring to what our parents, friends, the government, authorities, bosses, or mainstream society tell us we ‘should’ be doing or wanting. It’s time to shine our own light and embrace our soul’s calling. I'm totally serious here.
BUT…that doesn’t mean it’s all about ‘me, me, me’ – my money, my house, my family, my job, my security – it’s not narcissistic, not fear driven, not self-aggrandizing, self-centeredness in THAT way. It’s about doing what’s right for us and being who we really are, in service to the greater good.
The time is ripe for co-creating our future by taking individual, meaningful, practical, mindful, compassionate, soulful action. What's genuinely good for us, is good for the collective too.
It can be a win/win situation if we let it.
