The Hair Cut That Changed Everything

I can't stop staring at him.

A new haircut and suddenly, he's not the little boy with the raspy voice who hides under tables when his dad brings his guitar to pre-school.

A new haircut and he's off to England, with people who are not his parents.

"I want to see the Imperial War Museum", he says.

He doesn't say, "I am afraid to be away from you for two whole weeks."

A new haircut and I am taken aback by the way he speaks to his uncle on the phone, when he calls to thank him for the Euros.

Gone are the long, awkward pauses, the grunts and one word answers.  Instead it's, "I think we've been playing phone tag" and "I really appreciate that. It will be put to good use."

A new haircut and the last 11 years flash before my eyes, never to return.

:sigh: Awwwww, he will always be your little boy, your first born. And you will always be him mommy, his mom. Cherish every single moment ~ not all of us are blessed with the priviledge of being a mom. ;-)

So cute! Kids do grow so fast. It seems like it was just yesterday I had my little guy and now he is 14. :-)
